About Zen Spelling Bee

What Is Zen Spelling Bee?

Zen Spelling Bee is ZenPlay's free alternative to the New York Times Spelling Bee. The NYT version requires a subscription — Zen Spelling Bee is completely free with no login required. Find as many words as possible using 7 letters, always including the center letter. Words must be at least 4 letters long.

Pangrams

A pangram uses all 7 letters at least once. Finding a pangram earns a huge bonus — the word's length plus 7 extra points. Can you find them all?

Ranking System

Your score unlocks ranks from Beginner up through Good, Moving Up, Solid, Nice, Great, Amazing, Genius, and finally Queen Bee — awarded only when you find every possible word.

💡 Tips & Strategy
  • Always use the center letter — words without it are rejected.
  • Look for pangrams first — they use all 7 letters and score the most points.
  • Try adding -S, -ED, -ING, -ER to words you already found.
  • Common 4-letter words are worth 1 point each — they add up quickly.
  • Shuffle the letters often — your brain spots different patterns in different arrangements.
